AUDIO ENGINEER

ABOUT

Growing up in a musical family, I became interested in music at a young age.  Over the years, I have dabbled in learning to play many different instruments.  These include piano, trumpet, guitar, bass, mountain dulcimer, sitar, the Scottish highland bagpipes, the Scottish smallpipes, and the mandolin.  My latest undertaking has been learning the Irish uilleann bagpipes.

Like many other musicians, I became fascinated with the science and art of recording.  I started at a young age on 4-track cassette recorders and early home studio computer gear.

In 2006, I left Lincoln, NE to study Recording Technology at McNally Smith College of Music in Saint Paul, MN.  Here I learned much about the science of audio engineering, recording and mixing techniques, mastering, acoustics, music theory, live sound reinforcement, and more.  After graduating with an AAS degree in Recording Technology, I returned to Lincoln, NE.  I started engineering at Fuse Recording (featured in the photo above), and worked on a wide variety of projects and genres of music.  Highlights include recording US Poet Laureate Ted Kooser and local legend Dr. John Walker.

In the fall of 2014, my brother and I began recording artists in our own studio, Circle M Studio.  Please check out the portfolio page for examples of my work.
